FYI Phoenix w/Central Metro-Tech is a Vocational High School. Homebound is a High School program for children too sick to leave home. Desiderado is a High School for socially disabled children. Honors Courses are available for gifted children at Central HS. Central HS is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges & Schools. 111 High School Honors convocation students. Central HS received the City of Phoenix Award of Excellence. High School student was a Fullbright-Hays Grant Winner. HS faculty member received the Arizona Vocational Teacher of the Year award. HS Principal was a past recipient of the Chase Bank Outstanding Principal Award. Tennis Team is a past winner of 5A State Championship. PUHSD strives to provide an environment that enables students to succeed. With some exceptions, students are expected to attend HS in their residency zone. Fourteen magnet programs are offered by PUHSD. Magnet applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. Sports teams at Central HS are known as the Bobcats. Central HS offers a magnet program: The Center for International Studies. 2001 Recipient of the U of As University Cup Award-24 Central High grads who attended U of A (00-01) accumulated the highest GPA of any high school in the state! Two semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship program.
